Our New Year’s Day was cold and rainy, so we cuddled on the couch and had a mini Downton Abbey marathon (I’m trying to catch J.R. up!). As you Downton lovers can imagine, it was a wonderful day.
We also took some time to talk about goals for this new year. We don’t call them new year’s resolutions, because that simply doesn’t work. Try as we might, our self-improvement wish list won’t come to fruition because we just can’t do it on our own. Instead, we pray that God will use the Holy Spirit to work through us and change our hearts’ desires so that we can better worship Him. Some of our goals were financial, but most of our goals stemmed from our desire to really live in community and invest in relationships. We’re praying for energy for J.R. in the midst of 10 or 11-hour work days and for me not to prioritize my to-do list over more important things.
Looking back at 2013, I see that the year had many exciting, challenging and beautiful moments. Here are the most memorable ones:
Meet our furry friend Burgh. We found him through a local dog rescue and adopted him on March 9th. He’s cute, cuddly and energetic. We love him.
Aletheia Gainesville moved to the Hippodrome & launched Sunday morning services on March 10th!
We celebrated 2 years of marriage on May 28th!
We went on vacation to San Diego in mid-August. We explored downtown, Coronado Island, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, Old Town and the zoo. It was absolutely amazing.
On August 26 I joined the Gator Nation! In my new job as UFIT’s Public Relations Coordinator, I get to write, take pictures, manage social media & help plan events.
We spent Thanksgiving in Virginia with J.R.’s family. It was our first time driving instead of flying, but it actually wasn’t too bad. It was so nice to relax and spend time with J.R.’s family. We miss them.
Christmas was spent in Gainesville at our apartment. My parents came up and we all made a big dinner. We even got to watch our favorite movie, White Christmas!
We brought in the New Year with sweet friends. Happy 2014!
